Steve Gratz is a consultant for the Agricultural Education Service in the office of Career-Technical Education for the Ohio Department of Education. He provides leadership to more than 80 schools with agriculture programs in southeastern Ohio and serves as the state FFA executive secretary. Gratz serves as an ex-officio member of the Council as president for the National Association Supervisors of Agricultural Education (NASAE). He has been employed as an agricultural educator for 27 years - seven as a teacher of agriculture and 20 years at the state level in various capacities. Gratz is a graduate of The Ohio State University.

As a teacher of agriculture at Biggersville High School in Corinth, Mississippi, Ray is a National Board Certified Teacher and Certified Online Instructor who has extensive experience teaching Agricultural and Environmental Science Technology.

Prior to becoming an teacher of agriculture Ray worked in the agricultural chemical industry as a sales representative for Ciba Crop Protection in the citrus and vegetable markets of Florida. For nearly 15 years, he has been a classroom teacher with a concentration in the plant and animal sciences. Ray has served at all levels of leadership within the agricultural education profession. Ray curently serves as President of the National Association of Agricultural Educators (NAAE).

Ray completed his B.S. and M.S. degrees in agriculture and extension education at Mississippi State University.

A native of Rienzi, Mississippi, Ray and his wife, Lori and son Carson resides in Booneville, Mississippi. Although he is very dedicated to his profession, he enjoys time hunting, attending sporting events, and spending time with his family.

Dr. M. Susie Whittington teaches at The Ohio State University. She serves on The Council as President Elect of the American Association for Agricultural Education. Susie chaired the college honors committee and served on the university honors advisory council. She was recently awarded the USDA Teaching Excellence Award, the Josephine Sitterle Failer Award for Outstanding Service to Students by the Ohio State University Alumni Association, and was selected into the President's and Provost's Leadership Institute for The Ohio State University. Through her research efforts she has been awarded the Author of the Year from the American Association for Agricultural Education, and the E. B. Knight and Jack Everly Outstanding Journal Article Awards from the North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture. Dr. Whittington is the junior author of Methods of Teaching Agriculture. She holds B.S. (1982), M.S. (1987) and Ph.D (1991) degrees from The Ohio State University in Agricultural Education with minors in Animal Science (B.S.), Education Policy and Leadership (M.S.) and Agricultural Communications/Educational Psychology & Research (Ph.D).

Jay Olson is an Associate Professor of Farm Management Education at Lake Region State College in Devils Lake, North Dakota. Jay serves on the Council as the adult agricultural education representative and is appointed by NFRBMEA. Jay is a Past President of NFRBMEA. Jay completed his M.S. and B.S. in Agricultural Education from North Dakota State University. Jay taught secondary agricultural education for 5 years at Bismarck High School and Wahpeton High School in North Dakota.

Jay worked as a Loan Officer for Farm Credit Services prior to teaching Post Secondary Agricultural Education for 6 years at Lake Region State College. While farming part time, Jay has taught Farm Management Education at LRSC the last 24 years. Jay serves as Chairman of the Business Division at LRSC. He has received both the NDAAE Outstanding Post Secondary Teacher of the Year and Adult Teacher of the Year awards. He received the North Dakota State University Agriculturist of the Year award in 2002.

Jay believes that public and community service is the responsibility of each person to their best ability. He also believes that teacher recruitment and retention are critical to the future of agricultural education.

Cheryl Zimmerman is the State Executive Director for the Wisconsin Association of FFA. She has served at the state level since 1993. Cheryl serves the Council as President Elect for the National Association Supervisors of Agricultural Education (NASAE). She has also served as the Central Region Vice President of NASAE , a member of the National FFA Foundation Board of Trustees and a member of the Wisconsin FFA Foundation Board of Directors. She has been recognized by NAAE with the Outstanding Cooperation Award for Region III.

Cheryl is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she doubled majored in Agricultural Education and Agricultural Journalism. She graduated "Outstanding Senior" from the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences.

Cheryl is a former agricultural education instructor and FFA advisor teaching in Wisconsin at Waupaca High School for two years and Stratford High School for one before taking her current position.

Cheryl is a former State FFA Officer and lifetime FFA Alumni member. She has also worked for the National FFA Organization as a counselor for the Washington Leadership Conference. She also served as the Director for the program for two summers. In addition she has worked with the National FFA Made For Excellence program. Cheryl and her husband Mark have four children, Aaron, Ashley, Katelyn and Cortney.

Lloyd Bell is a professor in the Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education and Communication at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He is a Nebraska native having taught vocational agriculture in West Point and Blair, Nebraska. In 1976, he was appointed as an Assistant Director of Agriculture in Nebraska. He has been a faculty member in the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources (CASNR) since 1978.

Dr. Bell has taught extensively in the teacher preparation program of the department, of which he currently serves as Director. He teaches course work in undergraduate/graduate program planning as well as advanced teaching strategies at the graduate level. Within the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources at UNL, he has received the NACTA Teaching Award of Merit and the L.W. Crowe Award for undergraduate advising. He has been recognized by the North Central Region of the American Association for Agricultural Education (AAAE) as an Outstanding Agricultural Educator and for Distinguished Teaching.

Dr. Bell's scholarly activity and research interests are in curriculum development and minority education issues. He is a member of the graduate college. He will serve as President of the American Association for Agricultural Education during the 2009-2010 organizational year.

Dave Lieber has been a part of the Young Farmers program since he was in high school, and it is still a big part of his life. Dave has been very involved in the local chapter helping in community service activities, fund raisers and educational programs. He was elected to serve on the Colorado State Young Farmer officer team and served as the state delegate. Dave was then elected National Secretary and then National President in 2002. He is now assisting the National Board in preparing for National Institutes.

After graduating from Northeastern Jr. College in Sterling, Colorado with a degree in Diesel Mechanics, he was hired to work at a local John Deere dealership.

In 1989 he was hired to teach the Agriculture Diesel and Equipment Program at Northeastern Jr. College and was also instrumental in starting the first Postsecondary Agriculture Student Club at Northeastern and in the state of Colorado.

During the summer months Dave started his own Agriculture repair service business. In 2003 the college chose to close the diesel program and Dave went into full time business repairing agriculture equipment for area farmers. He is known as the Tractor Doctor utilizing an old ambulance as his service truck.

Mel Dewsnup is a faculty member and the Department Chair of the Agribusiness, Plant & Animal Sciences Department at Brigham Young University~ Idaho. Mel also serves as the Director of Pre-service Ag Education at the University. He currently serves as the Chair of the National PAS board and a member of the University Council of AgrowKnowledge. He received his BS from California State Chico in Agriculture Science and his MeD from Idaho State University in Occupational Training and Management. His focus has been on student success and enhancing the image of Ag Education.

Jeff Maierhofer serves on The Council as the ACTE Agriculture Education Division Vice President.

The Unversity of Illinois is responsible for Jeff's formal education. He received a dual major in Agriculture Education and Agriculture Economics in 1988 and a Master's Degree in Agriculture Education in 1992

Informal, and probably more valuable, education was garnered from growing up on a farm and from the lives of the many students who have been a part of the Ag Ed program over the past 20 years.

Jeff is a member and past president of the Illinois Association of Vocational Agriculture Teachers (IAVAT), the Illinois Association of Career and Technical Educators (IACTE), The National Association of Agriculture Educators (NAAE) and the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE). In 2005, Jeff was the National President of NAAE, a consultant to the National FFA Board of Directors and a member of the Board of Trustees of the National FFA Foundation. He serves as a Associate Director for the LaSalle County Soil and Water Conservation District.

Jeff's activities revolve around Seneca High School and the Ag Ed Department. His wife, Jenna, teaches math at SHS and they are the parents of two incredible boys, Levi James, 6 and Calvin Jon, 4.

Rick earned his BS from Brigham Young University-Utah and his PhD in animal reproductive physiology from Iowa State University.

For 19 years the Rick served as a division director and instructor at the College of Southern Idaho (CSI) in Twin Falls. As director he worked with faculty in agriculture, information technology, drafting, marketing and management, and electronics. He also taught computer classes and agriculture classes at CSI. Currently, he serves as the director for AgrowKnowledge, the National Center for Agriscience and Technology Education, a project funded by the National Science Foundation (DUE #0434405). Additionally, he is the editor for the peer-reviewed NACTA Journal which focuses on the scholarship of teaching and learning, and he teaches the occasional biology class at the CSI outreach center.

Rick is the author of numerous online lessons, and of four Thomson -Delmar textbooks.

He is working on two more textbooks.He and his wife are the parents of eight children and grandparents to seventeen.

Bob is currently the Western Region Representative of the Natoinal FFA Alumni and President of the Oregon FFA Alumni. He also co-chairs the Membershp Committee for the National FFA Alumni Council.

After graduating form Oregon Institute of Technology and working for the family business Bob found his niche working with machne controlled (laser system) heavy equipment. He spent eleven years working for Spectra Physics (now Trimble Navigation) doing dealer development to enhance automatic machine control for the North America Group. Bob played an integral part in future development of not only machine controlled systems but earthwork estimating software as well. In 1995, Bob and his wife moved "back home" to raise their family and take over his father's excavation business.

In 1999, Bob's previous ag teacher asked him if he would be interested in helping start on FFA Alumni for their local FFA. He agreed to do the task and it has been an incredible journey. As the doors have opened, Bob has worked hard helping others understand the relevance and role of "Advocating for Agriculture Education" from the the local, state and national levels.

Dr. Gary Moore is a Professor of Agriculture and Extension Education at North Carolina State University. He serves as Director of Graduate Programs and teaches courses that focus on the use of instructional technology in agricultural and extension education. He also teaches the Foundations course. He is a member of the NCSU Academy of Outstanding Teachers.

Gary is the 2008-09 President of the American Association for Agricultural Education. He will serve as President of the Association for Career and Technical Education in 2010. He is the past president of the American Vocational Education Research Association.

Dr. Moore is a native of Texas and taught high school agriculture in Kansas and Ohio.

Dr. Moore’s research interests are in teaching effectiveness and historical and philosophical foundations of agriculture and extension education. He received a B.S. in Agriculture Education from Tarleton State University (Texas A&M system), a M.S. in Agriculture Education from the Ohio State University, and a Ph.D. in Agriculture Education from the Ohio State University.

Sally Shomo has been teaching in Virginia since 1982 and is currently teaching middle school agricultural education at Beverley Manor Middle School in Staunton, VA. Raised on a dairy and poultry farm, Sally has always been interested in agriculture. After joining the FFA in eighth grade, Sally found a passion for agricultural education. She graduated from Virginia Tech in 1982 and immediately began teaching agriculture in Augusta County. Sally currently serves as the President-Elect of the National Association of Agricultural Educators. She is the 2008 Outstanding Alumna of the Virginia Tech College of Agricultural Education and Extension and has been an active member of the VAAE and NAAE. Sally and her husband, Scott have two sons. They enjoy agricultural life, traveling and spending time at home with family and friends.

Matt Musselman is Director, Sales & Marketing at Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc. (BIVI), a global leader in the animal health industry. He is responsible for leading the US Domestic Equine business segment. Prior to joining BIVI, Matt was Director, Sales & Marketing at Farmland Industries, Inc., Kansas City, MO and Director of Sales, Land ‘O Lakes Farmland Feed, LLC, Shoreview, MN.

Matt is a native of Bloomfield, IA where his family maintained a dairy herd, purebred cow/calf operation, and a small, farrow-to-finish swine enterprise.

He graduated from Iowa State University with degrees in Dairy Science and Ag Business and was a Biotechnology Scholar in Agriculture. He received his MS degree in Animal Sciences from the University of Illinois.

Matt served as an Iowa state FFA officer and is a lifetime FFA Alumni member. He and his wife, Lynne, have four children and reside in Kansas City, MO.

Jay Jackman is executive director of the National Association of Agricultural Educators (NAAE), a position he has held since March 1996. The NAAE executive director is an ex-officio, non-voting member of The Council. Before his current appointment, Jackman was a grant programs manager in the office of Higher Education Programs, Cooperative State Research, Education, and Extension Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture. He holds the B.S. degree in agriculture from Western Kentucky University, the M.S. degree in agricultural education from the University of Kentucky, and the Ph.D. in educational research and evaluation from Virginia Tech.

David A. Miller recently retired as Assistant Superintendent for Career and Technology Education and Business Partnerships for Frederick County Public Schools in Frederick, Maryland, He earned his Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Agricultural Education from the University of Maryalnd, where he has since served as president of the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity Alumni Association, the College of Agriculture Alumni Chapter and the University of Maryland Alumni Association, International. David has worked as a high school teacher of agricultural education, the Executive Secretary of the Maryland FFA, the Maryland Supervisor of Ag Education, the National FFA Treasurer, and has served as a member of the National FFA Board of Directors and Board of Trustees. He is past president of the Maryland Agricultural Council, Inc. and is currently co-chair of the Frederick County Ag Business Council. He is also currently a member of the Frederick County Workforce Development Board and is on the Board of Directors of lcoal Rotary , Lions and Elks Civic Clubs. David is married to Norma Boone and is the father of two children and has four grandchildren.

As a Consultant to The council, Bill Fleet is the Growth & Quality Program Manager. Prior to his appointment as Acting FFA COO on April 1, 2009, Fleet’s work experiences was with Pioneer Hi-Bred Internation Inc. He planned, organized and oversaw operating and capital budgets for nine sales markets for the North America sales organization. He played a dual role leading the the Pioneer North America seed sales organization and serving as director of sales & marketing effectiveness for the DuPont Agriculture and Nutrition Platform.

Prior to joining Pioneer in 1982, Fleet taught agricultural education for four years at the high school level and served as both an FFA advisor and advisor for the adult farmers in the Dover Area School District, Dover, PA.

He holds a B.S. degree with a major in Agricultural Sciences and a minor in Agronomy . Fleet earned a Master of Science Degree in Agricultural Education from the Pennsylvania State University, University Park, PA. He received additional executive management education at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, University of Chicago Executive Education and the Krannert School of Managment, Purdue University.

Since 2008, Armstrong has served as the Founder and Principal at JDA Consulting, LLC. From 2000-2008, he served at Provimi, a global nurtition company, as Group Vice President and Director of the Americas and as President and CEO of North American Nutrition Companies, Inc.

Prior to joining Provimi, Armstrong was President and General Manager at animal nutrition and research center Akey, Inc., from 1982-2000, where he led major business initiatives with increased growth and profitability. .

Armstrong is a former FFA member from Kentucky, and he recently served as chairman of the National FFA Foundation Sponsors' Board. Armstrong received a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from Murray State University. He earned a Master of Science in Nutrition from Purdue University and received his Ph.D. in Nurtition from Purdue.

As COO of the National FFA Organization, Armstrong will guide the organization and work with Dr. Case, the National FFA Board of Directors and the National FFA Staff to address pressing challenges and opportunities facing FFA on local, state and national levels.
