Isaac (Ike) Kershaw serves as Assistant Director, Career-Technical and Adult Education with the Ohio Department of Education. He provides leadership to Agricultural Education, Arts and Communications, and Information Technology programs, serves as State FFA Advisor and coordinates Ohio’s Career Technical testing system. On Council, Ike is representing the National FFA Association’s Board of Trustees as the adult representing secondary students. Kershaw’s work on Council has focused on AFNR content standards, the CASE curriculum model and data collection and reporting.

Following graduation from High Point University in N.C., Ike worked in all aspects of the Horticulture industry.  He began his career teaching agriculture while serving with Peace Corps in Swaziland.  After preparing at West Virginia University, he taught Production Agriculture and Agricultural Mechanics in Shinnston, WV at Lincoln High School.  Ike and family spent three years in northern Uganda rehabilitating agricultural extension and education services.  Upon return he attended The Ohio State University completing a PhD in Agricultural Education.  Ike has worked at for the Ohio Department of Education for 15 years, 12 of these in Agricultural Education.

Jacquelyn Deeds is a Professor of Agricultural and Extension Education at Mississippi State University in the Department of Agricultural Information Science and Education where she has taught since 1985. She received a Ph.D. from Ohio State University and has been at MSU since 1985. Jacque has a B.S. and an M.Ed. from Oregon State University. She serves on the Council as President of the American Association for Agricultural Education. Jacque previously served AAAE Secretary and Southern Region Vice President. Jacque also served on the National FFA Board.

Jacque was the first woman to teach secondary vocational agriculture in Oregon, where she taught for 11 years and served as president of Oregon agriculture teachers in 1982. She has been recognized as an AAAE Regional winner for the Outstanding Teaching and Outstanding Teacher Educator.

Lee teaches Agricultural Power and Machinery Operation on the secondary level in Ackerman, Mississippi, he received his B. S. Degree from Mississippi State University in Agricultural Education and received his National Board for Professional Teaching Standards certification in the fall of 2005. Lee has taught for 29 years and previously served as NAAE Alternate Vice President as well as NAAE Vice President for Region V before being elected as President elect for NAAE in December of 2005. He enjoys all outdoor activities and working on the family farm.

Jay Olson is an Associate Professor of Farm Management Education at Lake Region State College in Devils Lake, North Dakota.  Jay serves on the Council as the adult agricultural education representative and is appointed by NFRBMEA.  Jay is a Past President of NFRBMEA.  Jay completed his M.S. and B.S. in Agricultural Education from North Dakota State University.  Jay taught secondary agricultural education for 5 years at Bismarck High School and Wahpeton High School in North Dakota.  Jay worked as a Loan Officer for Farm Credit Services prior to teaching Post Secondary Agricultural Education for 6 years at Lake Region State College.  While farming part time, Jay has taught Farm Management Education at LRSC the last 24 years.

Jay serves as Chairman of the Business Division at LRSC.  He has received both the NDAAE Outstanding Post Secondary Teacher of the Year and Adult Teacher of the Year awards.  He received the North Dakota State University Agriculturist of the Year award in 2002. 

Jay believes that public and community service is the responsibility of each person to their best ability.  He also believes that teacher recruitment and retention are critical to the future of agricultural education.

Bruce Lazarus is currently serving as the Northeast District Public School Program Advisor in Agricultural Science and Technology for Arkansas Department of Workforce Education. He received his BS in Animal Science from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana in 1977, BS in Agricultural Education from Louisiana Tech University in 1982, MS and Plus 30 in Applied Botany from Louisiana Tech University in 1986. After completing his education from Louisiana Tech University in 1982, he began teaching secondary agricultural education at Dodson High School and remained there for 17 years. In 2001, he accepted the position of State Agricultural Education Program Coordinator for Louisiana until October of 2005, when he accepted the position with Arkansas Department of Workforce Education.

Bill Camp is Professor and Program leader of Agricultural Science Education at Cornell University. Bill taught agriculture at both middle school and high school levels and served as a local supervisor of vocational education in Georgia. He served as an officer in the US Army, Army Reserve, and Army National Guard. Bill holds BS and ME degrees in Agricultural Education from the University of Georgia and EdS and PhD degrees in Vocational and Career Development from Georgia State University. He 2 years as a faculty member at Purdue University for and at Virginia Tech for 23 years before moving to Cornell in July 2003. His research and teaching interests include teaching methods and teacher professional development. He is the author of four textbooks and over 150 articles, research reports, and papers on career and technical education and agricultural education.

Nancy Trivette is the State Agricultural Education Program Leader and State FFA Advisor at the New Jersey Department of Agriculture (NJDA). Nancy serves the Council as President Elect for the National Association Supervisors of Agricultural Education (NASAE). She previously represented Secondary Agricultural Education students on the Council where she was a member of the National Program Standards Committee and chaired the Council Data Task Force.  She has also been a member of the National FFA Board of Directors, National FFA Alumni Council, and National FFA Foundation Board of Trustees.

She has worked at the state level for 24 years while at Cook College, Rutgers University, the New Jersey Department of Education and now at NJDA. She promotes NJ’s Ag Ed  mission: “Preparing people for leadership and careers in the science, business and technology of agriculture”. Nancy received a B.S. in Ornamental Horticulture from Delaware Valley College of Science and Agriculture and a Ed.M in Agricultural Education from Rutgers University.  She enjoys involvement in the family dairy farm and traveling with her husband Randy.

Mel Dewsnup is a faculty member and the Department Chair of the Agribusiness, Plant & Animal Sciences Department at Brigham Young University~ Idaho.  Mel also serves as the Director of Pre-service Ag Education at the University. He currently serves as the Chair of the National PAS board and a member of the University Council of AgrowKnowledge.  He received his BS from California State Chico in Agriculture Science and his MeD from Idaho State University in Occupational Training and Management.  His focus has been on student success and enhancing the image of Ag Education.

William (Buddy) Deimler serves as the Specialist in Agricultural Education for the Utah State Office of Education.  He also serves as Advisor for the Utah FFA Association and the Specialist for Welding Education. He has twenty-seven years experience in Agricultural Education, serving in state level roles for the past nineteen years.  He taught high school agricultural education for seven years in Albuquerque, New Mexico and Avondale, Arizona.  He also spent seven years in the Arizona Department of Education as the State Supervisor for Agricultural Education.  He was born and raised in New Mexico and like many past Ag Ed students owes a great deal to his high school agriculture teachers and his University Ag Ed teacher educators. Buddy serves on the Board of Directors for the Association for Career and Technical Education as the Vice President for the Agricultural Education Division.

Rick earned his BS from Brigham Young University-Utah and his PhD in animal reproductive physiology from Iowa State University.

For 19 years the Rick served as a division director and instructor at the College of Southern Idaho (CSI) in Twin Falls. As director he worked with faculty in agriculture, information technology, drafting, marketing and management, and electronics. He also taught computer classes and agriculture classes at CSI. Currently, he serves as the director for AgrowKnowledge, the National Center for Agriscience and Technology Education, a project funded by the National Science Foundation (DUE #0434405). Additionally, he is the editor for the peer-reviewed NACTA Journal which focuses on the scholarship of teaching and learning, and he teaches the occasional biology class at the CSI outreach center.

Rick is  the author of numerous online lessons, and of four Thomson -Delmar textbooks. He is working on two more textbooks.

He and his wife are the parents of eight children and grandparents to seventeen.

Ronnie was born in North Carolina to Mr. and Mrs. Troy Ansley.  The youngest of five children, Ronnie was raised in Gaston, North Carolina, a town of approximately 800 residents in the northeastern part of the state.  His family’s home had no running water until he was age 5 and he never had an indoor bathroom until he attended college.

Upon completing his undergraduate degree at NCSU in agricultural education, Ronnie worked as a sales representative selling livestock feed and health products.  While working as a sales representative, Ronnie attended Clemson University and received a Master’s degree in agricultural education.

After receiving his Juris Doctor in 1991, Ronnie returned home to North Carolina to establish his law practice, providing legal services to private citizens, juveniles, and indigent clients.

Since a very early age, Ronnie has been active in the community.  He is a former State FFA Vice President and continues to be active in the FFA through his sponsorship of the State FFA Creed Contest, leadership school scholarships, and other awards sponsorships.  Presently, he serves as President-elect of the National FFA Alumni Association and as State Vice President of the North Carolina FFA Alumni Council.  Ronnie has been a life member of the FFA Alumni since the 1980s.

For years, Ronnie has been an advocate of improving our children’s lives.  He has been an active volunteer and sponsor of a number of children’s and youth programs in his community.

Harold Eckler has been teaching at North Shelby High School in Missouri for 24 years.  During this time, he has been an active member of MVATA as well as other professional organizations.  Initially, Eckler saw improvements he could make within MVATA at the district level, and decided to run for a leadership position.  From there, he accepted more and more responsibility until being elected to his current office of NAAE president-elect.  Eckler believes that the shortage of agricultural education teachers will continue to increase in coming years, and that as an organization, NAAE must implement strategies to recruit students into the profession.

Currently serving as Chairperson for the Landscape and Horticultural Technology Department at the County College of Morris, Jan-Marie’s responsibilities include curriculum development, technology integration, student advisement, staff development, and budget management. She also serves as current President for the New Jersey Agricultural Education Advisory Council. A member of the New Jersey Agricultural Education Association, Jan-Marie is active with the New Jersey FFA and serves as a Career Development Event Coordinator for the Landscape Design CDE and, in 2006, was awarded the State Farmer Degree.

Jan-Marie earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Natural Resource Management from Cook College, Rutgers University and a Master’s in Education from Rutgers University Graduate School of Education. After four years teaching Horticulture at Morris County Vocational Technical School, she joined the County College of Morris Agricultural Technology Program.

In addition Jan-Marie is a member of the New Jersey Nursery and Landscape Association, the Professional Landscape Alliance of New Jersey, and the New Jersey Landscape Contractors Association, and the Association of Professional Landscape Designers and is a Certified Nursery Landscape Professional.

As vice president, Pioneer Human Resources, Franci is accountable for all elements of the Human Resources function for the global Pioneer business.  In addition to her Pioneer Human Resources responsibilities, Franci is the HR platform lead for Ag and Nutrition and serves as the platform representative to the DuPont corporate HR leadership team.  Franci joined Pioneer in 2004 with an extensive background in human resources. She has held senior level positions in management and organizational development, change management, succession planning, strategy, and integration as well as international assignments.  Prior to joining Pioneer, Franci has worked with Cummins Engine Company, Miller Brewing Company, TDS Telecom, Principal Financial Group and Wells Fargo Home Mortgage.  Franci holds a master's degree from Indiana Wesleyan University, an undergraduate degree from Arizona State University, and is a Senior Human Resources professional (SPHR).

Sally Shomo has been teaching in Virginia since 1982 and is currently teaching middle school agricultural education at Beverley Manor Middle School in Staunton, VA.  Raised on a dairy and poultry farm, Sally has always been interested in agriculture.  After joining the FFA in eighth grade, Sally found a passion for agricultural education.  She graduated from Virginia Tech in 1982 and immediately began teaching agriculture in Augusta County.  Sally currently serves as the President-Elect of the National Association of Agricultural Educators.  She is the 2008 Outstanding Alumna of the Virginia Tech College of Agricultural Education and Extension and has been an active member of the VAAE and NAAE.  Sally and her husband, Scott have two sons.  They enjoy agricultural life, traveling and spending time at home with family and friends.

Matt Musselman is Director, Sales & Marketing at Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc. (BIVI), a global leader in the animal health industry. He is responsible for leading the US Domestic Equine business segment. Prior to joining BIVI, Matt was Director, Sales & Marketing at Farmland Industries, Inc., Kansas City, MO and Director of Sales, Land ‘O Lakes Farmland Feed, LLC, Shoreview, MN.

Matt is a native of Bloomfield, IA where his family maintained a dairy herd, purebred cow/calf operation, and a small, farrow-to-finish swine enterprise.

He graduated from Iowa State University with degrees in Dairy Science and Ag Business and was a Biotechnology Scholar in Agriculture.  He received his MS degree in Animal Sciences from the University of Illinois.

Matt served as an Iowa state FFA officer and is a lifetime FFA Alumni member.  He and his wife, Lynne, have four children and reside in Kansas City, MO.

Jay Jackman is executive director of the National Association of Agricultural Educators (NAAE), a position he has held since March 1996. The NAAE executive director is an ex-officio, non-voting member of The Council. Before his current appointment, Jackman was a grant programs manager in the office of Higher Education Programs, Cooperative State Research, Education, and Extension Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture. He holds the B.S. degree in agriculture from Western Kentucky University, the M.S. degree in agricultural education from the University of Kentucky, and the Ph.D. in educational research and evaluation from Virginia Tech.

As Coordinator, Agricultural & Rural Education for the U.S. Department of Education, Dr. Case serves as National FFA Advisor and Chairperson of the National FFA Organization Board of Directors, President of the National FFA Foundation Board of Trustees, and national advisor and board member for the National Postsecondary Agricultural Student Organization (PAS), national advisor and Board member of the National Young Farmer Educational Association (NYFEA) and the national advisor to the National Council for Agricultural Education. Case was raised on a farm in Stet, Missouri and was an FFA member during high school. All his degrees are from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He has served as a local agricultural education instructor for secondary and adult students, Director of the Lexington La-Ray Area Vocational-Technical School and Missouri Director of Agricultural Education before accepting a position with the U.S. Department of Education.

Becky Meyer, Council Executive Treasurer, taught agriculture at the junior high and high school level for six years in Wisconsin, two years in California. She worked as an Education Specialist with the National FFA Organization for four years. During that time she managed the Agriscience, National Chapter, PALS programs and was editor of Making a Difference. Meyer currently serves as the Executive Director of the Agricultural and Food Sciences Academy, a three year old charter high school that uses the context of agriculture to deliver a quality education. She is a board member of the Minnesota Agriculture In The Classroom program. Meyer is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of students through agricultural education.

Headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana Doug Loudenslager is Chief Operating Officer of the FFA Organization and the National FFA Foundation. Curriculum Standards and Career Clusters

Dr. David Hall is a Grants Manager for the Montana University System currently overseeing the Workforce Innovation and Regional Economic Development-Montana Agro-energy Plan (WIRED-MAP).  David earned his BS. and M.ED. from Oregon State University and his Ph.D. from The Pennsylvania State University all in Agricultural Education.  He taught high school Ag Ed in Oregon for 14 years and was a member of the Penn State Ag Ed faculty for 8 years.  David served 9 years as Montana’s State Supervisor for Ag Ed and State FFA Advisor.  Hall has served as an officer in NAAE, AAAE, and NASAE as well as a former member of the National FFA Board of Directors, National FFA Foundation Board and the National Ag Ed Council.   David is the chair of the National Ag Ed Content Standards Committee and the Lead for the Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources Career Cluster.
