Update from National FFA Foundation Board of Trustees January Meeting
Notes provided by National FFA Executive Secretary Dr. Steve Brown
* Revised Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws for the National FFA Foundation, Inc. as published and distributed were amended by:
- Deleting under Article III, Board of Trustees, number 4. Qualifications Voting Trustees may not simultaneously serve as voting trustees or directors of any organization the Corporation supports, with the sole exception of the President of the Corporation who is the National Advisor of the National FFA Organization.
- Modifying voting members on the Board of Trustees to include the Treasurer and Executive Secretary
* Revised and Amended Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws for the National FFA Foundation, Inc were adopted with an effective date of January 1, 2011.
* Wilbur Chancellor, State Supervisor, Alan Spencer, Executive Secretary, Brian Myers, AAAE Representative and Ray Nash, NAAE Representative were elected to serve on the Trustees’ Executive Committee. Brian Myers was elected Vice President of this committee.
Actions taken on concerns expressed by NASAE...
1. NASAE is opposed to having the National FFA Foundation Executive Director serve as a voting member of the National FFA Foundation Board of Trustees. The National FFA Foundation Board of Trustees decided not to allow the National FFA Foundation Executive Director voting rights on the Board of Trustees.
2. There is concern about the voting rights of the National FFA Advisor and National FFA President. The National FFA Advisor and the National FFA President will maintain their ex-officio, voting member status on the National FFA Foundation Board of Trustees.
3. NASAE strongly suggests that the National FFA Foundation Board of Trustees revisits the proposed mission statement for the National FFA Foundation, Inc. There is concern that the mission statement is not specific enough to Agricultural Education and FFA and is allowing for a huge variance in interpretation of this mission as we move into the future. Further details about this concern should be discussed with NASAE National FFA Foundation Trustee Board representation.

National Standards for Electronic Record Keeping Systems
The National FFA Organization, with grant funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and with extensive input from state FFA associations, local FFA chapter advisors and industry experts, has developed a set of proposed standards to guide the future development of electronic record keeping systems. These standards should allow private sector and university software developers a clear set of expectations and a basis for vigorous, constructive competition. More information will be forth coming. Cheryl Zimmerman and Steve Gratz were a part of a meeting February 2-3 to continue the development of these standards

*Include information on the Teach Ag Campaign in your weekly/monthly updates and columns
